If orca whales wore maternity pants..

To make sense of the title, let me share an experience of a comment from one of my abrakadoodle kids. (abrakadoodle is a company I work for in which I teach art lessons to kidlets). On teaching a lesson on how to draw whales, we learn about different types of whales:

Me: ...Whales swim in groups called pods. They like to come up out of the water and make clicking noises. There are gray whales, blue whales and there are black and white whales called "orcas".

(I could see this lightbulb like thought in the expression of a students' face, when she raised her hand to be called on)

Me: Abby, wanna share something about whales?

Abby: Miss Crystal, you look like a whale today. (with an innocent, toothless grin)

Me: (you little...)

At first, pregnant, you take this as a fat joke, but then i caught a glance at my black and white sweater and pants I was wearing. But still!

Me: (As real as I could fake) That's really funny, Abby. Anyway...

My 19 week update from babycenter.com says the baby is about 8 oz. and 6.5 inches long. The size of an heirloom tomato. I hope those are big, because something got to justify all this belly sticking out.
These are my new maternity jeans you know you are jealous of. They are actually a dream. I love them and after 2-ish uncomfortable months of normal jeans, I forgot how comfort felt- until now!
Here's a random pic. for the mix. This black widow was not outside the window. It was lurking between the screen of our basement window and the inside window. I've seen plenty of them outside, but never been threatened by the presence of one inside my house!!!
At the Utah Local Arts Fest, this man approached my booth with his finger pointed toward one of my drawings while letting out a strange spasmatic noise that sounded like he had just felt a heart attach coming on. He said "I know that guy!" Pointing to the 2 cars picture. I understood it as, he knew Steve's Grandpa from southern Cal who customized the 40 Ford. We small talked for a while as we all thought "what a small world". He was such a cute old man, and seemed to be a pretty good friend to the late Grandpa Jensen that I had to take a pic. of him for late Grandpa's sake.
Us, after a long and "relationship strengthening" day setting up our booth :)
